Hey guys, new to the forum, so this is the issues that I have with my 348. I keep getting error codes 4112, 4121,and 1111. Now I had the ECU's rebuilt last week, I've done the Gold Kit, changed the Phase Sensor and I've checked the MAF and both are 383 as the book calls for. The car is a 1990 I'm the forth owner, the 30k service was one less than 8k miles ago and total miles is 81k, but it has been Very Well Careful. So what I'm I missing? Could the Cats be the problem? I have spent $1,000's to try and solve this problem, but to no avail, and the car has No Power or Performance. I hope someone out there has seen this and can help.

If you go on My Ferrari 348 and search for those error codes you get:

    4112 Stroke sensor (phase sensor)

    4121 Catalyzer temp ECU

1111 Hot wire air flow meter (MAF)

Check out the link in each instance and it has some advice about fixes :)

Do you get the error codes on both ECUs or only on one?
If only on one you can exchange the MAFs and see if the error also goes to the other ECU. If yes then you got you faulty device. Same for stroke sensor.

If all else fails and you haven't replaced the O2 sensors, give that shot. Cheap and easy.

Hey Guys, thanks for the reply's. I've been to the My 348 site, but I'll check again. Also I'll swap the MAF tonight and see what happens, the error codes only show on the left ECU or bank 5-8, no codes of right unit, might swap that to bank 5-8 and see what happens, anyway I'll post the results.

You have re-initialized the ecu's right?
Shockingly this makes a huge difference. Mine ran like crap after I cleared the ecu codes until I did the re-initialization procedure.

Basically all you do is start the car without touching the gas pedal and let it idle until the fans kick on... or longer if you want.

Just further to what Larry has written, be sure to do it from a totally cold engine and don't touch any of the electrics either, also have your ac off (so I've been told).

Swap temp ECU's side-to-side, see if the problem moves. If it doesn't, check your cat. The MAF and phase sensor problems are small potatoes for now. Resolve temp first.

Hey Guys, this is the latest on the troubleshooting and repairs. I've swaped the MAF and cleared the codes, but I did pull the cat ECU's sensors and sure nuff codes 4112 & 1111 came back. So I cleared the codes again and swaped the engine ECU's and yes the codes came back. So last on the list, put the cat sensors back in and yes, I've got codes 4112, 1111, and the 4121 Cat temp error.

But after going thru all of this, I stopped and reviewed the problem, and I think that the left side bank(5-8) cat is the cause of all of my error codes. And at no time do I get any error codes on right bank, and the performance is like it wants to go but that its Chocked up and can't get the volume of air thru the engine, and its Very hot on the left side versus the right.

So can you guys give me some ideas? Should I pull the cats and install straight pipes and see if this resolves the error codes?

Have you tried swapping/cleaning/checking wiring on the phase sensors yet? (then doing reset)

Do you have some cat pipes lying round as it may bve an expensive way to find out if they are not something you can keep on permanantly? Also, the bolts snap etc when removing the cats so budget for those and new gaskets which you need 4 of.

Heres when I chnge the exhaust box which required removal of my existing test pipes if that helps:

Does someone have a wiring schematic for the 2.7 engine Motronic, looks as if I might have a wire or two in the wrong place when I was doing the Gold Kit upgrade. I've looked in the manual and the schematic is good, but I can't see what the colors are.

    Thanks
