    Guys,

Do you get a different sound in your 348 after it warms up? Mine starts out with a really nice loud burble and within a minute or two of driving it shuts up and goes all quiet until 5000rpm+ (obviously I don't take it there until the oil is properly warm!).

So what is going on? Is it an intake thing? Some valve that closes once the engine is warm/closed loop?

For clarification mine is a 94 GTC, could this be a later Spider/GTB/GTS/GTC thing?

I would assume that you are talking about the secondary air injection system doing its thing during engine warmup, but I don't really know if European cars have that system.

Yes, sounds like air injection system. Will come on for few seconds at start up even when warm. Cuts off at 4000 rpm's even when cold.

Mine does exactly what Largerlout said. I start the engine from cold, and it idles with a distinct louder rumble sound. About 3 minutes later it switches to a smoother sound. Mine is a 92' TB SS.

its the air injection system for emissions. pumps air in to the exhaust I think for the cats i think it's suppose to lean out the exhaust.
should happen on both sides... kind of like a warbling sound. should go away
after a short time as the engine is warming up. I only works under certain range of coolant temps I think.
I was told by Ferrari mechanic it is a normal thing. sometimes one side will stop
doing it before the other, was told that is normal too.

Henkie, put in a Capristo & turf the cats. After a nice warm run you'll love the sound at idle. Just don't try to have a conversation standing behind the car.

The guys are correct, it's the secondary air injection valves that are open. They are opened based on the temperature of the engine coolant. Once the coolant gets to a certain temperature they get shut off. The purpose of the valves is to help the cats get up to proper operating temperature faster.
