Why are you servicing the car if it's in storage?

It's not in storage. I start it regularly and I drive it a couple times a month. I would not want the belt to break, and service intervals are 3 years or 30000 miles. According to that schedule it should have been serviced 5 times.

Wow it's a '92 but you still have a Delco alternator? I would have thought all the 348s would have been upgraded to the Nippondenso units by '92?????

Hi. Just out of curiosity ... the belts on the car were 16 years old?

They can't be, because after 3 years the belts are designed to spontaneously combust and disintegrate into dust and shoot shrapnel into your cylinders and then you have to surgically pull your valve guides out of your @ss! :D

Yours has the Nippondenso unit probably because the service bulletin on your car was done back at the time. It is understandable that many 348s never had the change done. I know my 1992 348 was an April, 1992 build; and I have documentation showing that the campaign was performed at the dealer.

The service campaign for the change to Nippondenso alternators is dated June 1992.

I wonder if yours was converted? As you know the brackets and the alternator were available for conversion, which some people did.

Yeah you guys are probably correct that mind was changed over per the bulletin. I guess it just depended on the build date of the '92 cars as to what alternator they got.

I don't think 5,6,7 years with average driving and usual maintenance should be a problem for belts. Others may think I am crazy and insist it has to be 3 years.
