Hi - Before I tackle the replacement of the lenses on my 348, are there are things I need to be aware of, or indeed any threads already covering the job...I can't find any! Thanks

Make sure you get some good quality sealant to apply when you are ready to install new lens. I used a marine product called Sikaflex which cures almost like rubber.

Thanks - Any tips as to how to get the old ones out. Do I smash them out?

Mine was broken due to a stone hitting it. I carefully removed the broken bits so as not to damage the housing. Cleaning out the old sealant is a bit time consuming....

I have not done my 348 lens yet but have done many other headlamps

I put them in a preheated oven at 200 degrees for an hour for 10 min on a piece of wood so the metal racks dont burn them.
That got them to pull apart nicely, sometimes if they are real tight another 5- 10 min will do it. some assemblies will need 220-250 degrees

I try to avoid heat guns with HL assemblies

    Less heat is best

    :)

Ive got a powder coat oven so will give that a try, but also keep a very close eye on them! I want to avoid smashing the glass if possible. Thanks

Let us know how it works out. Mine aren't bad but I'm considering replacing them just to freshen up the nose a bit.

Piece of cake, although it only took a 2-3 minutes at 200 degrees, any longer and I would have come back to a puddle of plastic!

Once warmed through, the mastic started to give and the lens just slid right off. However Ive decided Im just doing the one as I might have just been lucky. The other side is actually like new so no need.

I got my set off a fellow F-chatter, good price delivered to UK.

Tim - Thanks for the tip
