When I had this problem last year I contacted the Portuguese member. he couldn't supply anything. Lots parts places said yes but came to nothing. Similarly Ferrari parts all across Europe no luck. so Daniel to the rescue and I had a US unit next day delivery and could get back on track.

When i turned up at next event a friend said oh yes Ive made some poly carb lenses up for mine, he had one side fitted, difficult to tell the difference - and do you want a set. So I have just got round to cutting them out and fitting to old unit.

Warning it is a major exercise getting old glass out and old sikaflex cleaned off, very well stuck in.
However, I'll ask to see if we can get any more made, perhaps pm me if your interested in a set.

Yeah I saw you are trying to do that, that would be great for the brotherhood! I've actually purchased daniel's final set of french ones since I need it fixed asap, you can see below how ugly it is, it drives me crazy....

BTW, I have an X5 that has the bmw OEM "angel eyes" look and the many of the older X5 guys love to upgrade to that. In order to do so, they have to take glass off the light assembly. They do that by baking it in the oven. This apparently melts the bonding between the glass and the rear assembly and you can just pull it off. Then you can then just glue it back together. Although, if you F*** it up while trying to pry the glass off with daniel's loaner fog, you've destroyed a mighty expensive item :) :)

If you do this, I'm interested, since I could repair my broken light and sell it.

Also since between you and mike, you want to fabricate things I'd love a set of fake challenge covers to really protect my now "more expensive than my first car" foglights. I snagged this pic from Dr. T to show what I'm talking about

I'm sure they are glued in with sikaflex. I'm also pretty sure it does not come undone with heat. At least not before the plastic melts. I would be seriously impressed if anyone coudl get them out with either damaging the glass or the plastic holder. Best of luck!

Just seen the spec on it http://www.ecfibreglasssupplies.co.uk/store/images/tds-ipd-sikaflex291-us.pdf up to 285 deg f.

Data sheet says it can only be removed 'mechanically' once cured....well, good engineers love a challenge...

My first option will be glass replacement, as close to original as possible. But, depending on cost, may have to go to a polished plastic... we will see... this will be my first attempt to look into something like this...but, I have some great airfield lighting engineers who are aching to run optics tests, luminosity tests, etc., etc., etc.,

I think it will be great!

I wanted to show you what the new french fogs look like. I think they are very cool with the yellow at the bottom! At least I got a slightly new look for all my trouble :)
