Hello guys.. My car hasn't got the front horse in the grill. I want to buy one, but I can't see very clear on the parts manual if I can hook it up simply, or that the front grill (from someone who has the horse) is different. I mean, perhaps your grill has a part glued on OE to fit it. A pic or help would be nice, thanks. (what's the exact size of the front one?)
I just made a small bracket for my horsey and soldered it to the horsey. Then, I glued the horsey to the bracket. Worked like a champ!
Mines a lot more ghetto then that. Some twisty ties and a rubber band. Holds like a champ! And you cant see a thing. I wouldnt let a concours judge get behind it though
I made a little bracket for mine too... easy as pie. I actually used some aluminum strips that I bought at Home Depot. The OEM replacement cavallino (from a 355) has two posts that you mount it with.
Ok So originally there's probably no mounting point, perhaps the thingy came with a special thing to mount it on the grill. Have to do something myself then. Can someone measure the size as I see a lot on europe Ebay, thanks.
I was thinking the other day that it might be fun to remove the Ferrari horsies and put on Mustang horsies, just to mess with people. Reversable fun.
Ferrari of Atlanta sold front grill horses for quite a while. They were about $40 and worked perfectly. Ciao.......Dino
I think the problem is the GRILL though, not the horse...You can buy the horses anywhere and they have 2 studs with nuts on them (kinda funny). There arent any holes for the studs to go into is the problem...thats why on mine, I used twisty ties around the studs, used the nuts to hold the twisty ties in place and secured it to the grill...then used a rubber band to secure it a little more... I would guess some of the other guys welded or sodered on a piece of metal on the grill, then drilled a hole to put the studs through...
I bent two small pieces of aluminum at right angles and pop rivited them to the bars on the grill. I then drilled these brackets to match the posts on the horse and tightened down the nuts with a little red loctite. Tightened them a little to much and poped one of the posts off the back of the horse. JB weld to the rescue!
Yo Hutman.. I was just wondering if there was some kinda kit to fit it like OE. But I guess nobody has a 348 that came from the factory with the stallion mounted, we all fitted them afterwards. Mmm.. think the stallion was a GTS / GTB matter which was never available in the USA. It will be here next week, in the worst case I'll use 6 tie-rips...
That is interesting, since the FerrariUSA.com website certainly shows them, but those may be euro pics? Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Those are 93' and up models which did have the front horsey. The GTS and Spider did have them but earlier TS and TB models did not. You can tell one is a SPIDER (obvious), the other I would guess to be a GTS because the bottom of the car is color coated to match the car. Though a lot of people do this on earlier models, I doubt you would find that modification on a Ferrari website
