348 Front Screen Removal

    Need to remove my front screen out of my 348 TB, I know it is bonded in but has any one removed thers in one pice And is the trim bonded to the in with the screen ???

    Any help would be good

    Hi Paul, Removing the front screen/windsheild is almost impossible to do without breaking it the bonding glue is tuff stuff but it can be done just no guarantee you won't break it. A good glass guy could probably do it they use a wire type cutter to cut the glue if you have one of those it would be easier. Also keep in mind the trim is delicate and is $700.00 to replace. You cannot buy that plastic trim piece seperate from the aluminum trim so you have to be careful not to ruin it also. It is usually glued in with the windshield so you are probably going to spend $700.00 at least and maybe a new wind screen too. Be carefull. Regards, Vern

    Thanks for the reply, I can see the alloy trim from the put side but canot work out how it is held in place ? i think it is bonded in there with the screen ??

    I will have a better look the weekend

    You are correct its hard to see from the outside you are better off to remove the interior trim pieces around the screen and start from the inside. Regards, Vern

    Will have a go, Do you think that once removed i should not jack the car up due to it being to weak ??

    I'm not sure that it would be problem since your car is B but, there is quite a bit of support duty designed into the screen. Without it there I would rather err on the side of not jacking the car. Regards, Vern
