I have a 91 348 TB. Front spoiler has road rash and paint chipped due low driveway bumps. Any one have any suggestions on front spoiler lip to help protect the spoiler paint from pavement and squirrels? Thanks. I already bought Hill's Skid Plates.

You could get a bra for the front of the car. I had one that I just sent out to another Fchatter because I never used it in the past year (don't care for the look and don't know how to put it on).

Also, you could get the front repainted and put the clear bra on (3M, accu guard or other brand). It is probably the most common solution on the newer cars.

OK, I'll fess up. I bought a can of $1.99 spary paint and some 1000 grit sandpaper. Wetsanded the bumper, lightly spray with paint, dry, wetsand, spray, etc. About 5 light coats, and it looks "acceptable".

That area is going to get bashed, cracked, pitted, and wrecked -- no matter how hard you try to preseve it (short of simply not driving). Anyway, mine looks decent enough to drive. If (ever) I sell the car, I'll certainly have it professional sprayed along with the nose.

If yours is in perfect shape now, the 3M guard makes sense. Griots Garage sells a very nice heavy duty helicopter tape that works well too.

Yes, we make a "Speciale" style front spoiler lip for this car in carbon/kevlar for just this purpose. In fact, we installed one on another Richmond 348 (we are located in Charlottesville). This is a good mod - it looks cool, and protects the front spoiler both by taking a lot of the blows and scrapes, and stiffening the relatively thin fiberglass, which otherwise will get cracked or ground away. Check out our website or give us a call. I'm glad there's another f-chatter in the area.
