    Hi,

Is there somone who has the exact mesaurements for these tools (part # 95972144 (2/3, 4/5) and 95972145 (1/R) so I can machine my own tools?
I find them to be crazy expensive considering how simple they look...

I am also interested in some good instructions how to adjust the shifter forks for booth 1/R and 2/3, 4/5.

For all you guys who have rebuilt your boxes, what would you consider the most likley cause for only having 1st and reverse gear at present?!

How common is it that the forks get out of alignment?

    Thanks, Johan

I still haven't been able to figure out the trick to aligning my shift cables perfect.

Having said that here is what I have learned helps.

    1) Remove the shift cables and lubricate the inside of shifter *CABLES* with automatic transmission fluid.

    2) Get the gear box fully warmed up, get the car up in the air, and put it in neutral.

    3) With the gearbox in neutral disconnect the cables. Center the shift leaver so it is exactly centered in the gate, and make sure it does not move. Now adjust the cable ends, either screwing them in or out, so that they line up exactly with the holes on the bottom of the sector. Reattached the cables.

I'm sure there is a much better, easier, more precise way to adjust the cables. If someone knows it please share.

    Johan,

you will find the the forks and bosses on the rods have a detent in them. They only go in one way passively and no tool is needed. You will see when you take it apart. Can't answer your question what your problem is without seeing it. When open you can start pushing things through their range of motion and you will find where things bind. I guess it is possible to bend stuff but I have not seen it unless a box grenades at speed (also never seen). Difficult shifting seems to fall into 2 categories. 1st is shfter and cable alignment, 2nd is looking the side bearing clearances or clutch shaft lockring and stuff starts to bind and shift funny.

Thanks for your posts guys, I have not been able to do anything yet but the car is the garage for the season and will be so until may so there is time to fix it (and hopefully save up some money for the repair until then).

I will post more updates when the gearbox is removed, with some pictures of what is at fault so it may help others that may have the same problem...

Sounds good there is no need for the original tool to line everything up.

    /Johan
