Hey all... completely new to this site... i hail from australia. I have a beautiful 348 spider... that baby is my pride and joy... i was making a change from 2nd to third the other nite and then there was nothing... the middle gate which is 2nd & 3rd is completely free... there is no resistance in moving the gear stick from either gear. all other gears and reverse are clean. Im assuming it is something like a pin or something attaching the selector shaft within the gear box (i checked all linkages etc and the gear stick is connected all the way into the gear box...) so thats my current predicament. now i need to fix it. there is no ferrari dealer here... closest one is 1600 km away (1000miles)... and they dont like giving u anything! so if anyone knows a link or can somehow send me a file that has the expanded workshop diagram of the gearbox of a 348 spider... that would be awesome... otherwise im a bit reluctant to let me mechanic open it up!!! thanks heaps...

Quick question.........can you get 2nd and 3rd gear?? Or there is no drive there at all?? Can you still drive in 1st, 4th and 5th?? Reverse also? Its a little hard to understand your question sorry mate.

Well I have heard that there is a 348 Spider in Townsville, around 900km away from here. Townsville is also 1600km from Brisbane where the nearest Ferrari dealer is. So this could be my new Ferrari drive buddy.
Bang on, this is the infamous Townsville spider.......... (sorry to drag this off topic) Any unusual noises when this gearbox issue occurred?

Holy sh*t!! It is too!! He thinks he has **** roads!! I took my 348 to Townsville in 2005 and drove 1000km in the 7 days I was there. The roads there are 100 times better than the roads here.
just got the car detailed and taking it to the ingham car show... looks better than an enzo (was that convincing??? ) yeah its townsvilles spider... there is some old unregd feraz here as well as tony irelands 360 i think it is... his is white i think... there is also a diablo vt in town... pretty hot car,,

Ingham car show is always good. My brother is there at the moment, I am sure he is going to it and I am sure he will come and check your Spider out also. My friend told me he saw a red 308 there the other day cruising around. I have seen pics of that red Diablo that rarely gets driven. Also heard about Tony's 360 that no one has ever seen on the road. I am thinking of bringing my 348 over in late August for a friends wedding. If I do, I will def let you know mate so we can go cruising for hotties. Now.........whats wrong with those gears??
My brother is there now...........no show Fabian?? Couldnt you get any gears mate?? My brother was going to fix that problem for you while he was there. If you see this little guy anywhere near your 348 Spider, let him be mate. He is my head Ferrari mechanic, GG. He mainly hangs around the engine bay, making sure the engine is delta-tuned to Enzo's personal specifications. He also takes an engine sample after EVERY run, to make sure the nutrons and protons are synchronized with the engine oil. He LOVES getting behind the wheel to make sure the steering feels tight so the 348 can maintain its go-kart like handling. He also checks the wheels bolts for me before every run. sounds like the selector has broken inside box. This happened to one here other week. obviously don't turn gearbox over as bits will cause damage. Unfortunately the 2/3 gear selector is ££ as opposed to the other 2. now why is that? Oh could it be because that it is the one that usually breaks and a certain car manufacturer rips us off. I would take it to a gear box specialist, unless your mechanic is very good. Ive found specialists know gearboxes better than mechanics (even ferrari).
Pap, i missed your chief mechanic last time i looked at this thread, I bet he is fed up with you not driving such a beautiful machine! he is one cool looking dude. The girls look a little out of place on the 348, i think they would look much better on a yellow 355 spider. I'll take the blonde in the black 2 piece
