can a normal trolley jack be used to lift the car up?? will it go under the skirts etc? just got my 355 wheels today (pick the car up friday) so will be fitting them friday night hopefully... that was until mt pal mentioned that the jack might not go under (he had the same problem on his lowered beemer.
I just measured my 348 out in the driveway. On my car, with stock tire sizes, you need 4 1/2" to get under the front jack points. In the rear, you have slightly more space under the rear subframe, but not much. My trolley jack fits, but just barely.
I lay a 2X6 on its side ans drive onto it to get extra clearance for a jack. BT Image Unavailable, Please Login
BT nailed it - I haven't gotten a jack under a 348 ever (only tried a few times) without such "assistance."
"normal" ones won't go under. Bought one of these http://cgi.ebay.de/Alu-Racing-Wagenheber-Rangierwagenheber-Tuning-1-5-to_W0QQitemZ270016452999QQihZ017QQcategoryZ83612QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem and it works a treat!
I tried to jack my 348 rear in the recommended spot and ended up creasing my wheel arch. Can anybody post a pic of the exact jacking point spot for the rear using a trolley jack. No problems jacking up the front end. Thanx.
I lifted mine at the chassis point near the door crease, halfway (ish) along the car. You can do both wheels that way, and it's a strong point.
