When I bought my 95 GTS the seller claimed that there were a Challenge Exhaust on it.
    1. How can I check that?
    2. What is the differences from an original exhaust?
    3. Is it comparable to a tubi?
    4. What is the price on a Challenge Exhaust?

    Sincerely,

    Simon Bring

My understanding is that the 348 challenge exhaust is basically straight pipes. I think the user Ira Schwartz has it on his 348 challenge car. You might try sending him a PM.

They actually had 2 challenge exhausts. One was basically straight pipes for racing. The 2nd was used for noise restricted tracks. It was basically spider exhaust. It does have a parts number (I have that at home and will post later) so you can check. Should be stamped underneath along with Ferrari. Mine also has Ansa stamped on it.

I believe that Dr. T is correct. FWIW, my car has the straight-pipe Challenge system and it's awfully loud for street use- you'd be deaf after a long ride. It's okay with a helmet on, but without it you'de certainly need at least earplugs to avoid hearing loss.

Yes, I was told it was not the system with straight pipes. It does not sound like the original one though... The thing is that i planned to buy new full-flow cats and wondered how they will work with my exhaust.

The new cats should not be a problem with your system if you have the equivalent of a 348 spider exhaust (the single can exhaust). If you are replacing existing catalytic converters with better perfoming ones, it should be a simple bolt on replacement that will help your exhaust flow.

The 93SS cars and 94-95 348s all had the single can muffler. That is probably what you have on your car that muffler is what brought the HP to 312 from 300/295 on the US version cars. I think the part no. in the 348 challenge parts book and the no. in the road car parts bk for the muffler are the same. As Dr.t said you can verify this by looking at those nos. Also to repeat what Ira said the straight pipe exhaust is loud! I have that version on my 355C it sounds great in my opinion but it is definetly not for the faint of heart! Regards, Vern

After doing some checking found that the '93SS and US '94-95 348s have the same muffler part no. and the part no. in the 348 parts book for the challenge cars is also same muffler(no. 1 in pic.) That no. is 156072. Just a side note for those who care, there are 3 different mufflers/silencers for 348s depending on what market you are in. Regards, Vern
