    Hi All

Just finishing replacing the handbrake cables on my 348, as the outers are pretty worn, and I suspect the inners are getting a little rusty causing some binding. All gone pretty much ok, but I have a quick question!

The 'short' front cable that goes to the handbrake lever, where this enters through the floorpan, seemingly, the hole is bigger than the cable. Am I missing a part that fits in this hole? Surely it doesn't rely on the 'P' clips holding the cable in place?!

    Thanks in advance :)

Hi there Paul, i have changed mine but when i got my car the floor was a bit rusty and someone had place a washer between the floor pan and the cable.

What i did in the end is turn up a steel boss and weld it into the floor pan.

I know this is not much help but the area where the cable fits is only very thin sheet and maybe it has split ??

Hi Paul, thanks for the reply, much appreciated. The metal looks pretty intact with no visible signs of splitting, although like yours, a little surface rust, but the hole definitely seems too large for the cable. Ideally need to find somebody with a lathe I guess! Really feels like there's a part missing, but after hours looking over every parts diagram I can find, i'm none the wiser!

    Cheers,

    Paul
