I am trying to adjust my parking brake or handbrake on my 348. I was able to adjust the driver side to work right. However, I can't adjust the passenger side to work.

I adjust the handbrake through the hold in the rotor, once it is tight, I loosen two clicks backward, so rotor moves freely. However, when I pull the handbrake handle, it won't lock up the rotor, the rotor still moves freely. The drive side works perfectly, but passenger side just desn't work. Please help.

I overhauled my rear brake shoes here - hope there is something of use to you...

Have you ade sure youve let the handbrake off fully plus (and especially if you replaced shoes) have you undone the adjuster nut and its locking nut underneath the car so there is absolutely no pull on the cables?

I personally am not a great believer in the adjusters on the rear shoes and the clicks off. What I llike to do is tighten them up so the hub is locked then undo the just enough so the hub can be moved which is usually 1 maybe 1-1/ to clicks. I find it helps to put the wheel on teporarily with one bolt to use it like a steering wheel and get a better feel for if its dragging or not. Take the car for a gentle drive round the block trying to avoid using your brakes so as not to heat anything up. Then feel the part of the brake disc where the shoes are underneath - if they are dragging then they will start to feel warm - if so loosen just a fraction more.

Once your happy dont forget to do your adjuster nuts up so you can get the right amount of clicks on your handbrake lever. I can hold my car on an incline on about 3-4 clicks - dont listen to people who say the handbrake is rubbish - its fine if fitted up correctly :)
