Castor setting is a compromise between steering effort, driver feedback while cornering, steering point, and dynamic camber gain while cornering (what the tire's specific needs are). Ferrari suspensions are increasingly more sophisticated, tire technology is vastly improved over even the last ten years, and manufaturers know more about (and are more concerned with) tire behavior than in the past. Of note is what you point out Philip, that castor angles are increasing in modern platforms, and performance of the cars are also increasing. That said, it is not proof that older chassis must change alignment to increase castor across the board. Though experimentation is encouraged. Best regards, Rob
Rivee, By my maths (which is not great), putting 255 X 40s on the rear means you have lowered the rear height of the car by 13mm and so changed the rake fron stock settings. 255 X 45 means tyre wall = 115 mm (.45X255) stock setting 225 X 40 means tyre wall = 102mm. (.40X255) not sure if this would have a noticeable affect but you nose is now higher in relation to the rear. john 13 mm lower from the axle centre.
