my targa top was scratched and dented from years of use when I got the car. I brought it to a local paint shop and had them color match it. I love it. It has the clean lines of the TB (if you don't look too closely at the seams where the top fits in) but you have the added bonus of being able to remove it on nice days. The downside is that I don't store it behind the seat for fear of damaging it.

Best if you can find a used targa to paint body colour IMO.

I have two for mine a Black OEM top and a painted one that was yellow and is now Rosso Corsa to match the car.

I actually like the black now. You don’t get finger prints on it when removing and refitting and the painted roof behind the seats looks odd when stored behind the seats with a bright red panel contrasting with the tan interior.

It’s nice to have both and from an originality perspective once you paint the OEM top you can’t go back.

I did mine in black to match the car. It looks great. It cost about $400 plus $185 for Alcantra headliner inserts. I did buy a 2nd top on eBay so I could preserve the original one. Do it in body color, you will really be pleased with the look.

I would love to have mine painted red to match the car. But I like the idea of having a spare top to be kept stock even better.

I spent decent money buying an OEM vinyl targa cover, which would be put to good use protecting a painted finish. If you don’t want to spend the money, you could probably get a Corvette targa cover to work, cheaply.

Mine came painted-which I really like because when installed it looks like a Berlinetta, which looks great, especially with my blue. But for these cars in my mind, the removable top is an absolute must--so for me this is the best of both worlds. If mine hadn't been painted, I doubt I would have bothered, but it came painted and I love it.

I thought about having My targa top smoothed and coloured coded because I really like the look, but then I realised that I never drove the car with the top on the car (I have a folding soft top that stays on the rear parcel shelf), so it would just sit in the garage looking nice.

I have a spare 355 one if anyone is in need, ideal for a repaint. Located in the UK. £500 plus delivery, no locks or catches and will need preparing. PM me if interested.
