Sure sounds like a slipping clutch, JT. There is no adjustment. Pretty easy to disassemble for inspection. Could be worn out, could be fluid on the disc, could be "glazed". We've seen instances where a clutch can be ruined almost instantly by a transport driver running the car up the ramps while slipping the clutch excessively.

Your clutch is bad, this is what happens when you try to cut corners, you should have the throwout bearing and clutch done at the same time.

The general check for a slipping clutch is to run the car in one of the top gears (4th or 5th), accelerate the engine, and put LIGHT pressure on the clutch pedal while holding the gas steady. If the engine starts to race right away, and continues to race when you fully release pressure from the clutch pedal, then the clutch is on its last legs and will continue to get worse until it is repaired.

Dirty petrol?? I doubt it, if the engine seems to be running fine. Doesn't match the symptoms.
