I took my 348 Spyder to the car wash the other day to be hand washed. Much to my horror when I came out of the store to check on their progress, I saw them using a power sprayers on it. They where spraying directly into the air intakes in the rear and in the front. Needless to say I took the car back ASAP and explained to them the definition of handwashing and why they were charging me $25.00 for it. There where no problems on the drive back to my office. Later that night however when I was driving home a problem developed when I turned the heat on. Within about 20 mintues all of the lights for the heating and A/C controls starting flashing. The heat died off and all I was getting was cool air. What could the problem be? The manual does not cover this issue from what I read.

One other issue. My parking brake light will not go out. The manual says it could be worn brake pads, which I would find hard to believe as it just came from the dealer and they said the brakes were fine (I hope not). Is it more likely a light issue or something simple? Any thoughts would be most appreciated before I head back to the dealer.

I can't help much for the a/c/heat issue.

However, the brake light may just be from having low fluid. Check the brake fluid container and add fluid if necessary. Sometimes as pads wear, the fluid level drops a bit, causing the warning light.

    Craig -

My guess? Bad weather seal along windshield or cowling allowed water to leak on the HVAC control unit and cause it to go batty. I've had water leak onto my feet when driving in the rain -- the seal between the fresh air intake and the blower box isn't very good.

Just my 2c -- start with the HVAC control unit.

If you disassemble the center console (starting with the gated shifter), all the plastic facia will slide around. You should be able to easily pull the whole HVAC control unit and disconnect it. Treat it like gold, because they'r supposedly impossible to find and very expensive. Get some Contact Cleaner from Pep Boys and clean the contacts and the wire clips that go into it. Make sure to not overspray and let it dry before plugging everything back in. Maybe that'll help!

I appreciate the assistance guys. Unfortuantely I have two left thumbs when it comes to anything electrical on this car or any other car for that matter. In my case I think I will have to eat it and pay the dealer to remedy. Thank you for giving me the insight as to possible causes.

If the parking brake gets set too hard / pulled up to far.
You most likely bent the little “L” bracket so the push button sensor is not making contact.
It’s easy to fix just remove the cover for the emergency brake.
Undo a couple of bolts remove the bracket put it in a vise and straighten it.
It should be about a 15 minute job with no parts needed
The same thing happened with my 91. Dave
