I believe from reading on here, that if you need to replace crank sensors, they can be had from KIA, at under $20. Do a search for the part number.
Yes they can. £40 in the Uk from Kia. Did mine earlier this year. Just remember to measure the gaps are in tolerance. Part number is on here in the sticky for replacement parts. Also Volvo and a few others.
No real progress with my problem. Have balanced both throttle bodies and clean up the crank sensor but still have the problem. As a side note I put a 5 gas analyzer on both banks and got very different results. I'll start a new thread as this may be a completely different issue.
How did you clean up the crank sensors? This really does sound like what my car was doing before I swapped the sensors. When I tried to pull them, the plugs just crumbled in my hands. Did you ever look into the coil packs? I would still suspect this is a weird intermittent ignition issue. If the clutch or other drive-line component was fubarred, I would assume it would be slipping under high load conditions, which it seems not to be.
omg i have the same problem with my 89 348 but know its ignition im thinking injectors or wires im ordering new referb ones and will report back
