I visited a Ferrari dealership over the weekend and came away with a strange feeling. This dealership on Chicagos north shore had fine samples of Ferrari new and old. But while viewing the various 430's 599's & 612's there was one car that kept getting my attention.

Parked between a F430 and an Aston-Martin was a very nice 1990 Ferrari 348tb. The car was completly stock red/tan. It had the traditional matt black lower rockers. The traditional black plastic shift knob. No upgraded wheels or aftermarket steering wheel.

This was the first Berlinetta 348 I have ever seen in person, as all others have been TS, Serie Speciale or Spiders. I am well aware of the numerous shortcomings of this model. But seeing this car brought me back to the late 80's early 90's era that I loved so much with Ferrari.

    IMHO

You are preaching to the converted here I'm afraid.

I love my 348 and can't wait to drive it when I take it out.

And they still turn heads - even after 20 years.

They sure do. I had my car out of the garage yesterday and got a shaka/hang-loose sign from a guy driving the opposite way. Two decades old and it still turns heads.

I wonder how big the frying pan would be that would meet my head if I tried that one on my wife? Thats classic! That being said, I bought a 348 speciale last week!

Go for it. If that is the model that makes you feel good, then settle for nothing else.

The 348, in my opinion, will always turn heads.

Agreed 100%, my car attracts lots of attention... even if there's a 360 or 430 parked next to me, people are always drawn to the 348. Classic styling that put Ferrari on the map will NEVER go out of style!

Even as a hard-core "Ferrari Guy", I STILL can't warm up to the 360/430... but I have to admit, the 458 is the 1st Ferrari to give me a chubby since the 355 design was retired!

Quite often, I have watched people spot a 360/430 and have to go all the way up to it to realize its a Ferrari from the badges. People know that my car is a Ferrari from a mile away! :D

Not exactly how I'd have phrased it, but I agree totally!

Now, if they could just offer the 458 with a proper manual shift and keep them from torching themselves, I'd have something to buy when I'm done with the 348. ;)

    Recall was last week, brudda!!

It's a glue used in assembly, catching fire......pass the pop rivets.

I'm stuck in Montreal all week wishing I could be back home driving my 348. "They" (non-believers) can say what they want about it, but that car makes me smile everytime I turn the key!...

    Texas of course!
I might be biased, but I think the 348 turns more heads compared to even the 355.

Was a 360 right next to a C6 Corvette once, and I barely noticed it without a double take, and no one else did. You are right though, everyone, car nut or not, knows the 348 is a Ferrari. An exotic is supposed to be unique, something apart from the crowd. Many newer models are instead watered down and look like every other modern sports car.
