    Anyone found a way to fix the tension on a lapbelt when it's stops pulling? I'm not interested in replacing it with an aftermarket. There must be a way to pop this open and replace something.

    It's the seatbelt that goes across your lap. In the US we have that and the mouse system the goes across your shoulder.

    I could be that you have years and years of dirt and dust build-up inside. You can try removing and cleaning it out.

    Ferrari Lapbelts should be repalced every three to five years, along with the tensioner. Failure to do so could result in catastrphic seat belt failure, your butt colliding with the bolsters, shifter, et. al. and require a $20,000 interior rebuild.

    There are a few things you can do - which I have done on my 348 shoulder belts (lap belts okay for now).

    First, remove the cover to expose the interior retraction mechanisim. There is a spring in there you can tighten. It only adjusts so far. After that, you need repalcement.

    Second, check for binding in the housing as well as twisting in the belt. I am working on a clip that goes inside that keeps the belt from twisting for my shoulder harness. Maybe it will help your lap belt.

    Third, consider shaving the belt. Okay, I know this sounds weird, but the belt frays over time and there are lots of little hairs that increase the belt's thickness. Use a sweater clippers or your electric shaver. Honest, this works, but it ruins the shaver's blades for your face. :)
