What is there left to say except that I also love my 348. I still don't understand why these cars have such a bad reputation!

Not a 355 wannabe, a 348 with proper Ferrari tail lights. Every Ferrari (both 8 cylinder and 12 cylinder) since the 308 GTB in 1976 has had dual round tail lights...except the 348. The dual round tail lights are one of the ways to instantly recognize a Ferrari from the back and it is one of their signature designs. To me, the 348 is actually better looking than the 355 from most angles except those 80's-looking tail lights. I know many people will think it's heresy, but to each his own!

I'm sorry, every Ferrari except the 348 and the Testarossa series (same era as 348) has had the round tail lights.

Well, I posted once on this thread but I just got my car back Friday after having Hyperflows and the Tubi installed, plus fixing some minor electrical issues and now I REALLY love this car. It is running great and sounds phenomenal. Plus I got a good forearm workout up in the Malibu hills with the manual steering. Low speed corners are a bit of work but oh, so fun!!

I am on and off on the taillight issue - don't have any problem with modifications as such but the only one I have seen that I thought was really well done was a one-off here on the boards where someone took a 355 Challenge grill and modified it for the 348. Apparently it is a fair bit of work but the results did look good.

FWIW, one thing in favor of the taillight change is that the 348 lights melt over time from the heat of the exhaust, which makes it tough to change the lamps!!

    Cheers
    Kevin

best bang for the buck IMO. I have not experienced all the reliability issues
that have been voiced, knock on wood!!! Beautiful Pinifarina styling, one of
the most incredible exhaust notes ever, and a true sports car feel. Yes, there are faster cars. Yes, there are cars that handle better. But very
few cars will put a broader smile on your face.

    Just say yes

Wow, nice car Tom. I love my spider but sure wouldn't mind a nice red tb or ss for a little track work. You wheels look good, too.

    Thanks Kevin,
I can assure you, there are many times that I would enjoy a spider, or to
have my old 348ts around. Can't afford two fcars. But if I could........

That blue on your spider looks so incredibly rich. Is that Sera blue?

Not sure...the original color is blu sera, per the owners' website at Ferrari. However, the car has been painted twice, first apparently in some horrible multicolored scheme with graphics by some sports professional in Florida, and then back to its current color just over a year or so ago. The current consensus is that it is blu Swaters, but as of this second I am just not sure!!

At some point I am going to add the SS lip at the front in CF but have it painted body color so when that gets done I will see what the paint shop comes up with as a color match.

There are some pictures in the bright sunshine at http://ferrarichat.com/forum/showpost.php?p=67338479&postcount=9 where you can see it has a bit more silver-y in it.

    Cheers

    Here is my story,

I have had a 348 for 3 years or so. I considered upgrading to the 355, but it is so similar......so I went for the 360 and never looked back.

I toyed with the idea of selling the 348, but kept it for the removable top, wish they would have done the targa thing on the 360...

So my advice, keep the 348, forget about the 355, and save for the 360, which is a HUGE upgrade in every way.

My 348 has been flawless for upkeep, very little maintenence. And I drove it as my every day for over a year. Extremely reliable and fun. The 360 has been the same but better...

Wowie wow - love that color combo on the 360 - rosso fiorano/crema from the looks of it. You got the red carpets as well???

I am fundamentally a blue car guy but I do love that fiorano....

    Cheers

Scott--noticed you've also owned an NSX--another car I'm considering. Love to hear your comparison to the 348.

the 348 is pretty good on the longer drives. The seats are a bit narrow, and I had to stop every couple of hours or so to stretch for a few minutes. Also, an amazing 30 miles to the gallon on the HWY.

I drove mine from Miami to Atlanta without a hitch. The only stops we made were for gas and food.

Okay, Here is my 2 cents worth on this subject. As many of you know, my 348 spider has over 100,000 miles. I purchased the car in California several years ago with just under 20,000 miles. I still remember the look on the guys face when I showed up and informed him I was going to drive it back to South Carolina. He honestly thought I was joking. He said "A Ferrari is not made to be driven that distance". I said why not? I had owned several Ferraris before this one, and I knew it would make the trip, I just loved picking this guys brain. At any rate, the car did excellent on the way back... I am in the automotive business, and have owned just about every car you can imigine. I stand behind the 348 100%. Even with all the miles on my car, it still runs as good, if not better, than it did with 20,000. The only time it has been at the Dealership is for typical service. To make a "longer" story short, you can't go wrong with a 348!!! Mine has been tested!!!!!!!
