Noticed recently that my 1990 348TS was becoming more difficult to launch in 1st gear and, in general, ability to increase the throttle without a jerking motion.
Removed the gas pedal cover and carpeted panel to the right that exposes the throttle cable. Diconnected the cable from the pedal.... pedal was free, no trash in the pedal area, and throttle cable free. Hmmm. Reconnected the cable and noted a bunch of dried up crud on the connection between the pedal and cable. This was cleaned and given a spot of molycote. The cable slack at the other end of the cable was then adjusted to leave abour 1/8" slack (it had 1/4", which may have contributed to the lurching).
Put the whole thing back together and no more lurch, no more difficult 1st gear starts, and no more jerkyness when the gap pedal is tapped.
Car is 20 years old and has 40K miles.... and I suspect had never had the pedal x cable connection cleaned and lubed. 15 min fix!

Excellent job Mike. I love reading the threads where it was a simple DIY job.
