Greetings Ferrari Brotherhood! I'm going to be completing my first major service on my 348 in the next couple months, and I'm curious to if anyone has any good suggestions to where I might find a source for high quality parts at a reasonable price. I've searched the almighty eBay and they run roughly 1000 on there. I have read somewhere that someone spoke a source that they received all the parts for about 700 but I cannot remember where they said they found them. Granted you get what you pay for. I'm ok paying for higher quality parts, but I would like to get the best deal just the same. Does anyone have any suggestions to where I might be able to find a good source that's trusted?

You know how to 'search' on here? There's a great source in your own backyard FWIW.

I'm currently in the middle of a 30K major plus several while I'm there items on my 94 348. All my parts have come from Ricambi. IMHO more important than price is making sure you get quality parts and quick delivery. I'd hate to think I wrecked a $20 K plus engine by saving a few dollars during the major. Daniel and company will take care of you. Make sure you ask for the FChat discount.

    Regards,

    Brewman

Here is a little puzzle you......its right off seventh avenue. This place is really neat and its west of seventh street.

If you have troubles with this then you are not ready for major service grasshopper.

Thanks Ace and Brew.. I was thinking Ricambi also. I got a few other parts from them and they rocked. My Ferrari guy thinks that is a good choice also. For all of the other wise-ass non helpful responses.. yes I do know how to search, but when your on a phone with a 2" touch screen the search bar doesn't work. So that doesn't seem to work well. ..and I really don't need riddles to tell me weather I'm ready for a service, that's why I have money and a little Italian guy who worked at the Ferrari Factory as a mechanic/tuner, that trumps riddles. :)

Just go on the Ricambi Web side, and along the left border there is a heading for Product Groups, about mid way down that is "major/30k service kit". Choose that and then you'll need to know if your alternator is Nippondenso or Delco. Then you're all set.

I should add to the above note that the Ricambi kit comes standard with Hill Engineering tensioner bearings. If you buy parts elsewhere, make sure you get the Hill bearings. I get the impression that it's not so much the timing belt that is the weak link, it's the Ferrari tensioner bearings

My riddle was just a little early morning fun and cheer. It was meant to be silly and enlighten you as to the fact that GT Car Parts is in your very own back yard in a fun way. I'm very sorry if I hurt your feelings.....Boo Hoo! Since you have MONEY why not let your little Italian guy I'm assuming in Fountain Hills make a few bucks on the parts as well as the labor. BTW, they will be coming from GT anyway.
Yes sir there is nothing more annoying than some guy coming to your shop with a basket full of his own parts and usually expecting a deal on the labor. Its even more annoying when there is a failure of one of the owner supplied parts and the the tech or "little Italian guy" is expected to eat the labor to make it right. Just say'n

With that said, I hope you have a great day and everyone you run into kisses your azz and make you feel important and special.

    Cheers!:D

As an Italian that does much of his own work, I find the "I have money" and the 'little Italian guy' comment a bit offensive. And just as you never want to be condescending to food servers, as you WILL end up with a 'special sauce'. It probably isn't a great idea to do the same to your Ferrari mechanic, especially if you can't do your own work. You never know, but there could be a 'special treat' in store for you, courtesy of the 'little Italian guy'. And trust me, you don't want that! :)

I'm sure Copter meant no harm and was just telling you about GT car parts, because they are a local business and it's nice to shop local.

Speaking of local... Have you brought your car out to the Monthly Motorsports Gathering and are you planning to go to the Windgate Festival of Speed on 3/22? We'd love to see your car out there!

WOW.. what is your issue dude? Sorry that I didn't detect your cheer through the bleeding sarcasm. Hope that your wife is happy to see you come home as well! And for your information my mechanic ASKED me to source the parts myself because he is too busy to do that. I trust his judgement either way. Not worried about saving 5% on the parts. He works hard.. he deserves it. Have a great day!

Or he may not have all the sources for the parts. Consider that you won't know exactly what you need until you remove the motor and start to dig into it. Lots of parts NLA so you need to hunt and/or find the aftermarket equivalents.

Read these threads as they have invaluable parts/interchange info:
    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/technical-q/438576-348-engine-out-major.html
    http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/348-355/50339-348-parts-sourcing-interchange.html

And a list of suppliers to get you started:
    Ricambi America
    GT Car Parts
    Ferrparts
    Hill Engineering
    SRI
    Eurospares
    Superperformance

When you open her up you will always find extra items that need to be addressed over and above what is in the standard "major parts kit" package. You will likely require several different suppliers as sources in order to finish the service in a reasonable time frame.

That is a valid point.. I was planning on pulling and replacing a bunch of stuff anyway. Its a 20yo 348 Speciale so I figure it was safer to do it all while it was in pieces to get it back up to its original condition or better. But I appreciate your feedback as well as everyone else that offered points to ponder. As always, the brotherhood's wisdom prevails!

F..U! Just kidding. I was looking for an entry into the argument. I get frustrated and in a quandary being a bald 355 owner. No reason to use the obligatory hair gel. What's a guy to do?

LOL! Bald guys have more testosterone than guys with hair that's why you lost it. Woof! You are a big dog time to upgrade to a 12 cylinder.

    Ha!

Ain't that the truth, and I'll add you need every friend you can get when trying to figure out solutions for some of the NLA stuff when waist-deep into the motor. Or plenty of Tequila, beer and wings to solicit help from the Stooges.

God.. you guys are so sensitive... :)
you own Ferrari's for crissakes - get some thicker skin --- I mean do you know how many times you'll be looked at and the thought is.. "man I bet he has a small wee wee".
    LOL

Can't go wrong with Ricambi for parts.
There's also Dennis McCann in Ohio all ferrari parts... google him. If you have a specific OEM part you want.. he has some REALLY competitive pricing.

Good luck with your major. Fingers crossed for no surprises.. but hey it's a Ferrari... there's bound to be something!!!!

Yeah we resent not having to routinely change our valve guides and headers. ;)
