My 348 TS 91 makes a rattle sound when It is in neutral when the engine is idleing. When I push the clutch in, the ratteling disappears. What can cause this ratteling sound?

I have drainend the tranny oil, It was some long chips on the magnetic drain plug.

I have taken of the inspection plate, looks good.
1th and revers is looking good, no exsesive wear.
Is there a way of inspect the 2th 3th gear and 4th 5th gear without taking out the transmission.

    Please help

Is the car new to you?

If not when did it start?

The reason I ask is rattling from the transmission has been common on many Ferrari transmissions at rest particularly when hot and the oil is thin. In later transmissions like the 360 some steps were taken to prevent or reduce that. Taking it to someone very familiar with the 348 to have a listen would be a good idea.

If you think it is loud sitting on the ground, standing under one on the hoist many sound like a coffee can full of rocks.
