    Hello,

I joined the site a few days ago and have been reviewing the posts to date. Thanks for all the info. I am at the pinnacle of achieving my dreams, the 348 is the final piece.

I am looking to purchase a 348 TS with low milege around 15k.
Same body color, I know the earlier cars came stock with the black bottom.
For some reason I like the 348 with the same body color, eventhough I can afford the newer ones. The 348 just hits that spot!!!

I still have not driven one, but usually when I get hooked it is very rare that I am dissapointed.

Within the 348, I love the TS and TB styles in red! The sypder is also very nice, but I like it in Gray and nothing else.... Man I never thought i would be so picky about a car. I have a yellow hummer, and buyinig that was a simple decision!

The older cars 308, testorossa, 355 and above just do not hit the spot. I know the newer ones are faster etc... but I am not buying it for speed, granted the 300hp is still faster than my hummer so that will be fun and a lot slower than my previous Yamaha R1...

I have budgetted a max of 55k for this toy, another 10k for service etc for this year. I will be buying on a cash basis with no trades, and really cannot afford to travel to look at cars because of my business, also all I do is dream about the car, I have been for almost the last 3 years.

I found the following car on ebay, it is local in new jersey and an easy visit for me.

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1991-Ferrari-348-TS-17-000-Miles-JUST-SERVICED-RED-TAN_W0QQitemZ250035376342QQihZ015QQcategoryZ6212QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

I need your help in assessing the car, I noticed the carfax has dates from 1996 (does this make sense, should I pull another report)

What would be a reasonable offer, the car is listed with a starting bid for 45,000, and an asking price of 59k, when you click on the details section. I am guessng the reserve is somewhere in between. (What is fair price, I do not like wasting anyone's time, however I do want to ensure the car is in excellent shape - Am I asking for too much)

What should I look for when I inspect the car, I will look into getting a PPI done. What are the other gotchas, that I need to lookout for.

THanks for any insight you can provide.

I would be very caoutious with this dealer. I was looking at a 355 there last year and they told me that it just had a major service done on it and when i asked to see the paper work. it had all dealer service records. except for a note on one of the recipts that, he had told the dealer it had already had the belts changed. odd that the biggest repair bill was not with the car. just a bunch of nickel and dime stuff and when i questioned them about it. they had no response. there cars also sit outside in all the elements. walk slow. I just called a friend of mine to see if his 348 was still for sale. he's also a local guy with a bad habit for cars like myself. if it is still for sale i will pm you. aproximately around the same year as what your looking for around 50k
    good luck

    I own a 348 and live in NJ. I have a 95 spider.

I can vouche for Mr. No Doubt. He is the MAN when it comes to 348's. His passion and insight on the car helped me more then words can say when I was searching for and looking at 348's. It is a great car.

I know you want a TS or TB. If i were you, i would lean for the Targa top. On a nice day, youll be a little pissed if you have no top to pop off to feel the sun on your face. Im a ragtop man, myself--hence the spider.

I just listed mine yesterday on Ebay. I dont have the link handy, but its the $65500.00 red/tan 1995.

Since youre local, if theres anyway I can help you or if you have questions, feel free to PM me.

I just looked at the auction. $45,500 opening bid for a 91 TS and Reserve Not Met?? Geez. Mine is under priced based on their reality. Wish I lived in Fantasy Land. Id adjust my price to $78,000 FIRM.

The non-factory horsey in front is way too big IMHO.

I don't think '91 even had a horse on the front. Rear horse was black originally. I think someone added the wrong one to the front. Lower panels and rear deck would have been originally black as well.

I have reading whatever I can get my hands on.

Just followed up on the car changes, the car on ebay has a TPS computer chip installed, slick shift upgrade, etc... I read about the slick shift upgrade and it seems okay, however I am not able to get an info on the chip. I do not like modifications to much other than the front and rear body panel to match.

    Thanks for the insight.

Thanks for the great feedback in helps. I spoke with Herb from the dealership, he mentioned the computer chip upgrade was done by the individual owning the car and not the dealer. As far as service he was open a PPI and mentioned Edison of Ferrari had performed the service on this car. Also the prior owner had leased the car in CT.

Based on the pricing it seemed he was agreeable to 54k, but in comparison it seems I can get a 94 to 95 within the same price range.

    Thanks for the feedback.

Thanks for the info on your car, I actually saw it on ebay yesterday. If it is a spider, then it must be in the gray I am looking for :). Thanks for the offer anyway, I greatly appreciate it.

    Thanks
