That is correct - if you saw in Ernie's thread (first few posts), he mentioned that the wheels had to be removed because he didn't have O2 sensor sockets, so he had no alternative but to remove the wheels to access with an open end wrench.

The O2 socket eliminates the need to remove the wheels

    Ernie-

I have been having similar issues on my car for months. Curious what ended-up resolving the issue for you.

    Thanks,

    Jason

New O2 sensors did the trick.

However I did need eventually new to replace the EPROMs in the Motronic ECUs with a fresh set.

I also re-pinned the T55 connectors on both wiring harnesses. https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/348-motronic-2-7-connector-harness-repin.444155/

I know this is an old post, but big thanks to Ernie for the detailed instructions. I was stranded on the road a couple weeks ago and had to get a tow home and all the symptoms pointed toward a bad O2 sensor. One of my O2 sensors wasn't reading anything on the multimeter...the other seemed okay. I purchased OEM from Recambi and used this post as my guide. Unfortunately, after replacing the engine is not firing. It cranks hard, but seems like it's not getting a spark or possibly fuel. Is there any sort of "reset" that has to be done after the O2 sensors are swapped out? Thanks in advance all!

Wrong diagnosis. It's not the 02 sensors. They don't prevent car from start or running

Ok, well at least it has new O2 sensors now...The car started sputtering while driving and then eventually lost the ability to respond to acceleration. I'm certainly open to other ideas/things to troubleshoot.

    Try

A fuel pressure test on the fuel rails of the engine. See if both regulators produce 45-50 psi. If not, one of them is the problem.

Sounds like you've lost a bank. If it's not fuel pressure, it could be something simple like a relay, coilpack/power module or crank sensor. Try resetting your pump and injector relays in the passenger footwell. If no luck with the reset, relays are relatively cheap.

Pump relays in red, injector relays in green.

Sometimes "percussing" relays with the blunt end of a screwdriver can pick up an intermittent relay issue.

Also check pump fuses. I assume you have an Owners Manual.

You can do voltage checks on various components if you think it's a power issue. You can also jumper relays to see if it's a relay control issue.

Do you have one of those cheap pen-like spark checkers or something more sophisticated to check for spark during cranking?

Thanks so much for that detailed reply and the time you took to put the diagram on it. I'm definitely going to dig into this to see if I get anywhere with it. I'll keep you posted.

Thanks for this recommendation. I'm going to get the appropriate tools and give this a look. Much thanks!

Before you get too far into it, try disconnecting the cat TCUs from the main wiring harness. This is just to make sure that you’re not getting an erroneous “cat overheat“ code being sent to the ECUs shutting down the bank/s. Then try cranking it over to see if it fires up.
