I have a small leak in my oil cooler and, given the exorbitant price of a replacement, wonder if anyone has experience of having one repaired or re-cored, or knows of anyone in the UK who can do that. Thanks.

I don't know anybody, but it must be possible to do a repair.

I'd start talking to radiator recore people or companies who make oil coolers (eg: http://www.thermex.co.uk/). They might be able to copy yours on the basis of product development. Tell them how much a genuine Ferrari Unit costs, ask if they could copy yours for less and they get to add another product to their catalogue.

The like of PIRTEK (www.pirtek.co.uk/) could make a patch hose to put in the place of the oil cooler while yours is away for repairs. As long as you don't run the car hard, you might be able to run without the cooler for a while - although you might want to take more learned advice on this point before proceding; as I don't know how much the 348 relies on oil cooling as part of the overall engine cooling!!

Is the oil cooler actually a unique Ferrari part? ie: can it not be matched to a generic performance oil cooler of the same dimensions and flow sold by (say) Demon Tweeks? (other performance parts suppliers exist...).

    Good luck.

I had one re-cored. Sent it to my local radiator specialist (Raysons in yeovil) they then sub it out to a company in Birmingham. took about a week and cost around £90

Thanks for the replies. The oil cooler is now with a radiator repair company in Glasgow and I'll get a report on what they can do with it tomorrow.
