    Hello,

Last few times I noticed a small puddle under gearbox air went. If I drive more than 50 km it is bigger, but if I make less or a quick trip round the block it isn't there. It is also not dripping if the car is parked. I recon that it has something to do with the Flywheel to engine seal. It is gearbox oil.
    Here is a pic.

I hope that you guys will be able to help me out and let me know which parts to buy and how to do it.
It is winter here, so this will be nice winter project.

    Cheers

It is gearbox oil not brake fluid that leaks

Where can you refill the gear oil, and what kind should be used? I need to maintain the level while I'm waiting for a slot to open for service for the same problem.

Well I use Motul Gear FF Competition 300 LS SAE 75W140 (it shifts easier when cold and hot).
I use it because it is blue and you can see where it leaks from.

Take off the air box and on the left side of the gearbox there is a big bolt. Take it out and it should have a metering scale attached, so you can check the level. It is hard to pour in :)

If on minimum pour in 1/2 liters of any gearbox oil for LSD gearboxes. Motul Gear 300 LS SAE 75W90 or something similar with LSD additive (otherwise your diff plates might stick together).

Let me know what it was if you figure it out before me.

    Cheers

If you're certain its not hydraulic fluid, and you're certain its not gear oil, have you considered it possibly to be liquified Kluber grease from your flywheel? I should think on the long drives (when you report leaking), the Kluber has a better likelihood of heating up and liquifying, than on a short drive around the block.

The voith dampening flywheel is packed with the stuff.

I suspect if you remove the clutch pumpkin, it will be coated with the blackened goo from leaking flywheel grease.

Gear oil typically leaks past seal #18 (comes out a small weep hole) or o-ring #16. It is also likely to get past the "triple seals" (#13) and end up on the clutch.

I've colored them pink. For some reason the o-ring wasn't pictured but you can't miss it when you take things apart.

You won't really know which until you get it apart and examine things.

Replace the triple seals. Mine was doing something very similar and just doing that eliminated the problem. Haven't had a leak since.
Also it is incredibly easy to take the clutch pumpkin apart.

Cheers guys you are the best. Will make a photo story when I take it apart. I think that the safest thing would be to change all mentioned rings and seals just to be safe.

    Thank you again.

do you hear the noise of "stones clunking in a tin can" when either you start and/or switch off the engine......look out for that noise.....if that's the case then i think Daniel is right and its Kluber grease.......

No noise no problem (except the leak). I had put blue color gearbox oil in with intention of finding out where it leaks easy and remove any doubt. Since I own a Ferrari I knew that it will start leaking somewhere anyway :)
