Hi. Is this normal?? Had the car out all day today. Pretty hot out. Oil temp around 210ish or so and water temp around 210 ish. Then at city traffic lights check engine lights flickered on for seconds and went away after I took off..

    Thanks
    Dan

Let me add that those numbers were only at idle and stand still for a while but on open road they dropped back below 200s

It gets pretty hot around here, and my temp gauges have never been past the half way mark....and when I say hot, I mean hot, we made it on the list of hottest cities in the world last summer (3rd place I if am not mistaken).

I would suggest checking the oil levels and while you're at it check the coolant level as well.

You must have missed the pages in the owners manual that say only worry above 239 F (water) & 266 F (oil) ! It might be worth checking water level & that fans are clicking in even so

Will do!! What do you think of the cels flashing on for few seconds at a stop light in that heat. Is that anything to worry about?

Off topic but really, you are in Canada, right? Are you sure that's not hottest in North America? Just asking because I've been in several cities in the Middle East (Iraq, Kuwait, Oman, others) Most I've seen is 53 degrees C but seen over 50 in all of those countries in cities. In the desert you just stop checking :)

Anyway, back to oil temps ........

Correct, Canada....and yes, worldwide....only a few places in the Middle East were hotter.....this was for only a few days, not perpetual :)
