To inaugurate the new thread alignment, what car do you prefer? The Go-kart like 348 or the modernized 355? I think the responses will tell how we will get along now. My prediction...not so good. I know this has been discussed ad nauseum, but now that we have to be roomates let's see if the responses are more civil, or more antagonistic.

I would vote for the 348. I'm biased, but really like the go-kart/race feel. I have heard from others that have traded up to 355 that were dissapointed with the "modern" feel.

IMO 355 is better... But is not much better than 348 as some of chaters say...
It is only better... Like 430 is better than 360...
I don´t agree when some say that 355 is the best and 348 the worst...

Neither is better-just different-like comparing apples and oranges. Like art, each has its own look and feel-neither is for everybody, and the differences are what makes them both great cars!
So, it is for each to decide what they want and love accordingly.

Short answer 348 is for people who can drive a car,355 is for people who think they can drive a car.Apart from the BHP all the rest was a backward step IMO.

I've owned both. For my money, it is the 355. Although the 348 was a lot of fun, the 355 is more user friendly, solid, faster, cleaner and, in my case, reliable. Like them both, just like the 355 better. Actually, much better!

Exactly. The latter 348's were much better sorted than the earlier 348s. But no question, the 355 for its beautiful lines, 6 Speed, and motor.

I can't say how the 355 drives or even how they ride (as I have never even sat in one). I do like the looks of both. The differences from what I have seen / read I would say that I like the wheels / interior / power / 6 speed and shift linkage of the 355 but prefer the door strakes / raw feel of the 348. Both good cars, and I suppose if I had the money and had found a good 355 when I was looking, that is what I would have bought.
But since I drive the 348 I guess I have to favor it (at least until I ride in a 355).
    :)

I thought this new alignment was going to rid us of the neverending praises for the 328 in my home forum??? I would not wear one of my University of Miami shirts to a University of Florida vs. Kentucky game.

for MY budget, the 348 is BETTER. From a side-view, the 348 is BETTER. From a rear view, the 355 is better (which is the view most seen from the cockpit of the 348 coincidently).

348 seems to be the last of the classics, and the 355 the beginning of the technological terrors....each has it's own charm....

If you mean "better" as in faster, well, that question doesn't even need to be asked.

My cousin has owned two 348's a 308 and a 355. I have owned a 308 and 2 348's (on my second one now). My cousin and I both lean towards the 348's over the 355's some of the reasons make sense, some maybe dont make too much sense. We both prefer the "no power steering, old school,go-cart feel" of the 348. We both agree that the side strakes on the 348 were meant to be and are a thing of beauty!
Not crazy about the look of the air bag on the 355's steering wheel, but love the look of the rear end, the stock sound and power.

348 hands down, more of a drivers car, 355 too refined power steering sucks! Basically the newer the car the less fun up and down the chain, all the "drivability features" to cope with the grind of day to day driving come at a cost.

I liked all 3 cars which are all great cars and all FERRARI'S.....it's not like I was comparing them with Lamborghini or Porsche. I was not praising the 328 it was just the one that fit my needs and budget at the time.
