Just had my major, the car did not have a Thermastat which was fine by me, who needs a $6.00 part (excuss me, I mean for Ferrari $120 part) break a 20K bill.

Anyway, it now goes to 2/3rds within four or five miles before it goes to 1/2.

1-This has to be wrong, right?
2-Is that cheap Fng part sticking?
3-My fans don't seem to be coming on when it goes to 2/3. I checked all of the fuses, they are fine. They do come on latter.

Advice please, and if I have to change the thermostat, how hard it that?

I'd bleed the coolant, first...before changing out parts.

    Hi David!
Does it go to 2/3 & than drop down rise back up & drop back down? If so it seems they put a "hotter" tstat in? Maybe prior it had a 180 degree??
Air bleed also worth a shot, thats easy to see if you have once you crack bleeder..
My couple cents....could be worse you could have 2 broken "new cats" ;)

Yep, you should always try the cheapest and easiest fix 1st. If thats no good, then it may have a 'hotter' thermostat fitted as chrmer3 mentioned. :) Bleed 1st, then go from there. :)

If you are missing the thermostat it will not flow coolant properly. Put in a thermostat.

Bleed the cooling system first and then stop cutting corners and do the job correctly. Remember, there is no such thing as a cheap Ferrari.

Having the same problems with my 348 at the moment.

Here's a list of what may need doing in addition from above advice.

    1. Thermostat (You definetly need one)

    2. Check the fan switch & fans (Are fans coming on?)

    3. Replace or recore existing radiators.

Whoa! That's a fact. I didn't even think to interpret what he wrote in post 1 as not having a t-stat at all. That would send coolant through the bypass only, never letting the coolant flow properly through the radiators.

    David -

Check your FoW receipts for p/n 165473. I seriously doubt they failed to replace it, given the extent of work you had performed and the quality of service they typically deliver.
