just going through a complete re-paint on my 348 and the paintshop can't work out what the matt black applications are. Between the upper and lower body parts and in the air inlets in the C-pillar there are matt black applications which seem as though they could be a sticky foil - or are they simply masked and painted? Thanks for any help! Drew
It is some kind of filler. No Doubt has the name and manufacturer available. It is not tape or paint. If I recall it is a 3M product. BT
Ah, that explains why the paint shop can't determine what material it is! I'll give NoDoubt a pm. Thanx.
Sorry. It took me a little while to find the old thread but it is referred to here: http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/showthread.php?t=95708&highlight=silicone+joint the product is according to MDshore348 a 3m body seam sealer. I believe this is what you are referring to. BT
No! What you are referring to is the seam between the rear fender and the sails. Some cars came with a strip of black caulk. What is being referred to in this thread is the black bit that is in the air intake that is inside the 'C' pillar....and I don't have a clue what it is!
I was asking about that strip of black caulk at a ferrari gathering today. Why do some 348's have it, and others don't? Personally, I don't like the way it looks, and would like to remove it.
Sorry. To continue the slight hijack, I like the black stripe between the fender and flying butress panel. Good luck with the search... BT
