Guys - this car is going to be worth WAY more in parts. Shame, but that is the problem these days. The car prices are in the toilet because the parts / cost of ownership is ridiculous...

So a perfectly good specimen of my favorite Ferrari gets the hook. Bummer.

This guy actually is pretty sharp. As someone mentioned above, gets lots of looks and action due to the low start price and the questions that it would generate...
And look - WE ARE TALKING ABOUT IT, TOO!!!

I wanted to have the winning bid on this car so I could take advantage of his $1.00 UPS shipping. :D

A very difficult business parting cars like that. Yes its worth more money as individual parts but it takes up less room all together.

Three years ago I emptied two barns full of 348 parts/cars/and sections of cars...the room that takes up is incredible, 5K feet of floor space and then decide what is worth taking and what goes for scrap. If folks only knew what went in the dumpster that week....

One gets a call for a radiator....source through the inventory list that had to be made prior to unloading multiple trailers, locate it in the barn on the back of the top shelf where it was wrapped up for safe keeping, retrieve it, clean it up, pressure check it, photo/email and reply to the request and get the answer..."Good, I will get back to you"...What? "Are you just taking a survey?!" Three times in a row and one learns their lesson.

I have come to the conclusion that the only way to do this is as that owner has done it...sell it as a whole chunk OR grab the top part in the first bin at the top of the stairs and list it on Ebay/Fads and let it run its course. The later is how I intend to do it this fall, at least until the loft is empty. Spring will see the same clean out of the hay barn as that has to go to start construction on the "Man Barn"...(that Kris said OK to) Loading up all those parts seemed like a good idea at the time... Not a route I suggest for the space limited.

He never answered my emails either. I think you should never part out a car (they don't make anymore) that is in fine running condition. If you have a business or ample space to store and sort through, then maybe the parts route is for you but look at your own cars. Out of 1000's of parts, how many are actually in demand? 10%??? 20 %?? 30 %??? I think you will have tons of leftover parts that will either be thrown away or damaged from improper storage. I used to have a Delorean and kept spare parts (for no reason other than I came across rare parts). I ended up selling everything on ebay later on and what I could not sell I ended up giving to the buyer of the car for free. How many people are going to need door hinges??? right? Everybody thinks of the scenario where they get rid of every last part on ebay and they do the math in their head and they start to salivate. From my experience, it just doesn't work that way. My delorean was a parts car that I bought for $4,000 and I fixed up without too much expense and I sold it for $18,000. (in this economy that is pretty good since they go for about $20,000.) I enjoyed it for 10 years and it was regarded as one of the nicer deloreans out there. I just think it is sad to see this special car get parted out for the reason the gentleman stated. He stated to me that he was parting it out because he sank too much money into it and he thought he would never get his money back.

Wait until he see's what he will get for the parts after his labor time to remove and store them is factored in! That's a mistake he will only make once
