As of late I have noticed that after I have been in the car for about 30 minutes or so, I loose a great deal of power in the engine. At one point it just died. After the engine died, it fired right back up and no issues at all when it is restarted. However, in runs fine for a bit then just goes soft. This only happens on longer drives. If the car sat for 5 mins and I just drove it for another 10 mins, nothing it runs fine. The only way I can explain the power drop is while in 3rd gear the engine and rpms drop to the point where it feels as if you are in 5th gear. The car only has 22K on it, and I have had the engine serviced twice since 15K. The last belt and major on it was about 1000 miles ago. I love my car, but the "issues" are starting to drive down the level of love I had for it. Any insight would be appreciated!

    All the best!

    Carlo

Do all your CEL lights work? Have any of them come on during loss of power? Have you pulled your codes? Have you reset the parameters(re initialize) on your ECU? Sounds like your engine is going into limp mode. Mine did the same for a while when I first bought it, I reset the ECU's and no more problems.

Just expanding slightly on the post above, are you seeing the "slow down" warning lights come on during this loss of power? Do the "slow down" lights come on momentarily during the light test cycle when you first turn on the ignition switch?

It's possible that your catalytic converter temperature ECU's are sending the overheat signal (either real or false) to the Motronic ECU's, causing the engine to go into "limp mode" as Roberto suggested. This SHOULD cause the "slow down" lights to come on, but perhaps the bulbs have been removed??? We've seen it here before. The 348 is very well known to have problems with false signals from the cat temp ECU's. My own 348 did it.

Had the exact same problem with my 348. The 2 catalytic converter temperature ECU's are sending the overheat signal because they are made of plastic and sometimes crack and accumulate humidity etc. I had both of the sensors removed for good. do not need them, they are only a source of trouble. my opinion and ferrari mechanic opinion.
