Anyone have any insight as to what the trend has been? How to current prices compare to what they were say 2 or 3 years ago? any good sources for that type of info?

It seems to me that 348s are in higher demand than two years ago. I see many more people buying them than previously.

I would like to believe that there has been a subsequent increase in market pricing, but I cannot say so. Indeed, the Ferrari Market Letter Asking Price Index indicates a decrease in asking prices for 348s.

I don't believe it. I know I could get much more for my 348 than what the Asking Price Index indicates. But then again, I have a Speciale, which might be different. All I know is that the 348 is one of the best cars for the money that money can buy :)

here is the break down I have witnessed (since I have been actively shopping for one)

rough cars 40K, avg (or higher mile cars needed major 40-45K), good cars (lower miles but needed major) 45-50K, decent cars with recent major 50-55K, and great low mile with recent majored cars 55-60K with spiders running about 5K more.

I'm looking for a low mileage, serviced car (ts) and want to end up somewhere between 55-60k,

I have no idea what they were running two years ago though, I would be interested in knowing myself.

THere is an article on this very issue (348 pricing) in one of the Ferrari related magazine (I forgot the name) at Border book store. It said something to the effect that 348 pricing is somewhat stabilizing and is cheaper than 328.

Probably the biggest influence on 348 pricing - and sports car pricing in general - is the influence of the season. A 348, regardless of condition, servicing, etc., will be worth about $5,000 less starting in October than it is right now. Of course, the price rebounds again in March.

Why this phenomenon? Supply and demand. There is more demand for the cars in the spring/summer, more supply in the fall/winter.

I sold my 40K miles near-perfect 348, complete with 355 wheels and new tires, for $42K last November. That lucky chap could sell it right now and make $5,000.

That's not to say you shouldn't buy in the spring/summer. It's simply a $5,000 premium for the privilege. But all those summer evenings taking your 348 for drive...priceless.

Normal market trends. As 348's drop and become more affordable, more of us buy. As more are bought up less good examples remain, in turn the prices go up.

IMHO I don't think 348 prices will stay much below 328 prices. Biases????

When I was looking for a 348 one and a half year ago in The Netherlands there were 14 cars available in AutoTrader for all prices.
Of course the nice ones were the best examples.

By curiousity I did the same thing one week ago here.
Only 2 cars available and one was very expensive with 16000 km's only.
They (F-dealer even) were asking € 56.000 for it. (USD 71.000).

    A normal price for a good car 91-92 would be € 45.000 (USD 57.000).
Yes... this is not the USA here....

I still think a good no stories 348 will be in the 55-60k range. Miles or no miles.

I originally sold my 348 to get a 355. After spending about 3 grand in PPi money on problem cars I called it quits. Actually, I was given the opportunity to buy her back. It was a good decision IMO.

The 5/06 issue of ClassicSportsCar magazine features the 355. On page 194, there's a discussion of 308, 328, 348, and Mondial price trend.
