    Looking for a list of the 348 production run. How many per year and what body type. I am looking for a 348 Targa and would really like a very late model. From what I have heard most of the later 348's were drop tops. So I wonder how many per year were targa. I did some web searching looking for a list like this and had no luck. Anyone have a web site that lists the 348 model run?

    How many upgrades were done on the later 348's? If I can't find a very late 348 what mid years should I look for? 91 and up?

    Just to note: I had been looking for a mid model Testarossa. 88 1/2 to 91. Haveing talked to some owners and service managers I am thinking a 348 would be better for me. Interesting that I see some 355's close to the prices of late 348's. Makes me think of upgrading to a 355. Wonder about the valve guide problems though.

    hello,

    i'd suggest checking out FORZA magazine issue 30. it has a 348 buyers guide
    also keith bluemels "origonal ferrari v8" is very informative. his stats are as follows;
    348 tb 89'-93' 2895
    348 ts (targa) 89'-93' 4230

    also consider the following;

    348 serie special 12 92's 88 93's 15 94's

    348 spyder numbers are not totaled. but the 94's were actually built and sold in 1993 and the 95's were also built and sold in 94. theres a handful of 1994 coups that were sold as GT's which included racing roll cages and other modifications for the track.

    from my extensive research on this model, i've come to these conclusions;

    1) avoid the 89 and 90 models
    2) ferrari got it right in the 92 model year with numerous upgrades and improvements
    3) serie special also has numerous upgrades but the seats & tail light are a love/hate relationship.
    4) spyders are considered the best of the model run.

    just my $0.02

    Have both of these. The Forza articale is nice as it was written long after the production run was finished. My friend who had an early 348 sent it to me. I do have that Original V8 book but since I moved it may be hard to find. Looks like I will be searching for a 92-93 Targa as no 94-95's were targas.

    So I am still looking for some information on how many of the 92 and 93 348's were targa. I'm sure there is a wesite out there that lists how many of each year we what and what. If anyone knows let me know. I'm curious. If the number of targa's in 92 and 93 are very low I know I will have a harder time finding one.

    Doing more web page searching I found a few answers to some of my questions. All 94-95 348's sold in North America were drop tops. There were 94-95 Targa tops and hard tops produced but none were sold in North America. Seems the drop tops started in 94. So up utill 93 all you could get was the hard top and targa. 94 and 95 were all drop tops. I had thought that the drop top 348's had started earlier in the model run. So there should be a fair amount of 92-93 348 targa's in North America. Still wondering how many.

    Not true!
    There were 15 '94 SS's.
    There were 32 '94 TB's also known as factory challenge cars but only about half ever got the challenge kit. The rest were road cars. Ditto for the 13 '94 TS's.

    Not quite true.

    My 1992 Speciale tb is #20/100. My sources tell me there were about 23-26 1992 Speciales.

    Forgive me, but were these total production numbers or production numbers just for importation into the US?

    All this arm chair 'research' is rediculous. I have owned a very early '89 for almost 16 years and it has been bullit proof. The updates and recalls as well as services have all been performed. As a result, it has been a great car. The care and pride of any car is reflected in how it operates.

    My brother and a friend of mine were both 348 shopping. The friend found a '93 with no records and a dubious past for ~$48K. My brother found a '90 that was well cared for, had extensive records, etc for $70K. I advised my bro to buy and my friend to run. They both bought. My brother has had almost 4 years of happy, trouble free Fcar fun and my friend has spent an additional ~$30K geting the car 'right' and he still owns a car with a checkered past and sketchy records. Who made the right choice?

    Unless you have personal experience with something, the .02 should be kept to yourself. All it does is confuse people who otherwise may be able to make a rational discision based on facts.
