348 brothers! I was changing the oil today on the 348 and happened to notice this bolt was a tad loose... How tight should it be? Is it a torque or distance issue? I'm curious it's purpose. It appeared to aid in applying pressure to the alt belt... Of course I've been wrong b4 thanks Image Unavailable, Please Login
That bolt adjusts the tension on your alternator belt. Turn it one way to tighten/increase the tension. Turn it the other way to loosen your alternator belt. Of course, the bolt on your tensioner pulley itself must be loose for the adjustment bolt to have any impact.
The bolt in your picture is bolt "D" in this diagram. To adjust the tension on your alternator belt, you loosen bolt "C" on the pulley, then turn bolt "D" until the belt tension is correct (see how the tensioner pulley can move up and down by means of the slot behind bolt "C"?), then retighten bolt "C". Bolt "C" must be tight to hold the tension. It doesn't matter how tight bolt "D" is, as long as the tension on the belt is OK. Note that the alternator itself remains stationary during the process - only the tensioner moves. When adjusting the A/C belt, the compressor does pivot on its mounts. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I have noticed that many of the CD's for sale on ebay, particularly Ferrari, are actually available for free from Ferrari. Do you happen to know if these manuals are one of the freebies from ferrari.co.uk or somewhere else? Thanks, Jay
