This might sound like a dumb question but - where is the radio aerial generally fitted in a 348 ? ie. on the cars without a visible exterior aerial, but fitted with radio/cassette player etc.

On the early 1989's, the antenna was stuck on the back of the roof. Later 348's have the antenna inside the front windshield glass assembly.

Thanks. By the way, is the aerial visible on the windshield assembly or hidden (I'm @ work at present and can't check mine).
    My 348 is a late '93 model.

I've never seen it on mine, but others may have better eyes. I'd just guess that it is wrapped around the perimeter, out of view, but what do I know.

Mine is a 12/1991 and i have it down the drivers side(RHD)corner of the windscreen. You can see the clear strip easily. :)

    Showoff!

I went out to my 348 and measured 4 CM's from the right hand edge to the visible metal line embedded in the front windshield. If there's a clear strip, then it's really, really clear!

I've noted from viewing previous posts that on the 355 and 348, you can improve radio signal strength by purchasing an inexpensive telecoping antenna, and positioning it horizontally under the dash, and extending it. I have not tried this, find the radio performance at least adequate for my needs.

I've never had my radio on whilst in motion - I'm too busy taking in the sweet sound of the 348's V8 gurgling.

In all seriousness though,id perfer the standard cassette player,as i would never use it. Ive had the 348 since September last year and only around 1 month ago,i burnt an MP3 disc,to actually listen to some music in the car. And ive only played it a few times anyways. Id rather listen to my muffler-less exhaust note.....:D

Keep an eye out on the 348 Ebay site for one (I will let you know if I see one). Ive got a radio cassette fitted in mine (there when I bought the car).

By the way, what was the original/standard brand of cassette-radio fitted to 348's ?

Had a number of customers years back that wanted telescoping electric antennas installed in the left rear fender after they installed after market glass w/o the antenna. Damn sure made me pucker up drilling than hole.....
