I need to get a broken contact out of the door connector for the pass side door on the 348. Before I break it, does anyone know how it is supposed to come out and where I can purchase a new one?
    Thanks

If you are asking how to undo the connector in the door jam, you just unscrew it.

Hmm. I'm not exactly sure what you're asking, but I won't let that stop me!

To disconnect the two halves of the connector, you unscrew it - I suspect you've already discovered how to do this. The male part of the connector (fixed in the forward part of the door jamb) probably doesn't have any problems (these are pretty sturdy). The typical problem with these harnesses involves a wire-to-pin connection on the female side.

To access the back of the connector, the rubber accordian-type cover just pulls back. Be careful when doing this so as not to pull out more wires.

You can buy the connector from Ferrari, but it only comes with the rest of the door wire harnesses and costs $900. Soooo, the way I've fixed mine is by using a punch or some similar pointy object to push from the mating face of the connector on the pin to force it out the back of the connector. They usually just pop out and then you can re-solder the wire into the back end of the pin and replace it in the connector (make sure to squeeze the female part of the pin down so it will make good contact with the male side when the whole thing is reassembled).

It's not very difficult to do. I actually had several wires to fix on mine, and I soldered in little wire extensions between the original wire and pin to give the harness a little strain relief to prevent the problem from recurring. So far so good a couple of years later.

There's no real secret to the fix, but you can't really get the part so your going to have to go for the hack job. You can get replacment pins and connectors from some electronic supply stores, but they are not exactly the same as the one in the door which can cause other problems. I'd recommend going with the approach outlined above.

    Good Luck.

Thanks. That was what I was wondering. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't going to wreak the thing with the punch.
    Thanks again!
