I have, so far, found out that RNT sockets 28, 45, 56 & 60 are required for the various ring nuts in the 348. Can somebody confirm whether this is all; are there any other sizes?

Does one of those cover the steering wheel nut? I forget which size it I but it may be needed elsewhere on the car as well. Seems like it also fits some timing components on earlier engines, even if it only fits our steering wheels.

RNT-28 is for the timing centre-bottom pulley and also for the steering wheel nut.

I thought the gearbox ring nut is an 80 or 86.

Edit: I just did a quick Google and there is a 45mm and 56mm

One that comes straight to mind is RNT-44 for the 102289 Hub nuts

Thanks Paul, I will be ordering the sockets and nuts that I don't already have from you in a week or so. I saw on your website that, for the 348 nut 153002, you state "uses RNT-56-260". Can it be done with a short RNT-56 or is the long version necessary? What socket goes for the ring nut 153000?

#153000 uses a RNT-56 tool as well. We sell the RNT56-260 these days as the 100mm long solid version was almost the same cost to produce and in the workshop the longer tool is needed more in the likes of the 308/512 gearboxes.

That's good to know since I've had this AV-815 sitting on the shelf since 1993.

Same as the timing belt drive pulleys on my Mondial 8 (at the time).

An older publication, but a great reference as to what fits what and what the tools look like. I've got most, if not all of the ring nut tools. Most are OEM Ferrari. In recent years, I filled in the gaps with the Hill tools. They are ultra quality products and far more reasonable, price-wise that the factory tools.

    David -

I have the same binder of Ferrari tools. I think it runs through 2000, or there about. It has fantastic illustrations of every single tool (to that point). I also have a binder with every single electrical connector Ferrari used (up to 2000), which is equally cool because it lists the AMP numbers, etc.

    Hi Angus,

I have an extra new RNT-60 (Hill Engineering) for the clutch centre nut (bolt). If you don't buy a set, I can pass this to you when I see you at Sepang.

    Cheers
