The clerk at a local 7-11 store told me I need new rotors for the 348 today. Lol. Turns out he is absolutely correct even though anyone would have noticed the rotor hub rust that formed when the car sat from previous owners. Ordering parts this week. This picture is a total disgrace.

Costs more to let 'em sit than to drive 'em!

Not a fan of cutting rotors that are from 1990. Beyond buying new rotors the calipers will need to be rebuilt.

Unless they are badly lipped/out of spec/scored etc theres nothing wrong with your rotors. More to the point if you have a nice clean sweep on both the inside and outside of the rotor your calipers are most probably fine as well.

With regard to the rust just clean it off and paint it, Even if you buy new ones they will go like that pretty shortly (maybe genuine take longer as they have a coat of zinc paint on whereas aftermarket usually seem to be completely bare).

If you do go ahead and replace them make sure you get the right ones as there are 2 widths ie. 25mm and 30mm shoe ones.

QQ about rotor thickness. The digital caliper measured 28mm thickness. What exactly is the discard measurement? Also when removing the rotors after calipers are off are they held on only by the 2 wheel align bolts? On porsche there are 2 philips screws and lug bolts go through rotor. I guess the Ferrari design the lug is the bolt which screws through the rotor to hub. And rotor is lightly fastened with the 2 wheel align bolts. My first time working on ferrari brakes which seem straight a bit different.

the 25mm refers to the width of the shoe not the rotor so measure that.

The 2 pins hold the rotor on so it doesnt wobble etc but obviously its when the wheel is bolted on that secures properly like a wheel sandwich! :)

Check the link i did for more pics

The 28mm reading was average width of rotor measuring from both sides. The digital caliper is just what I used to measure it. So the pins are the only fasteners for the rotor. Cool. I do have a slide hammer if it is stuck so that should be easy.

If its stuck check you have remembered to take the hand brake off! It should just gently pull off or come off with a fairly gentle tap of a rubber mallet

I have two brand new, in the box, Brembo rear rotors for the 348, Ferrari part number 131868, (Brembo part number B25263) that were purchased by myself several years ago, for my own 348, and never used. They have been sitting in my garage, on the shelf, for about 10 years. I see that Ricambi wants $332 each for these, plus shipping. Care to make me an offer for them?
