I`ve had my 348 a few months, and at the weekend spotted a few areas that have started to suffer with minor rust. First off, whilst removing the nearside front lower fibreglass panel to effect a repair caused by a previous owner driving over something, I noticed most of the paint off the battery support tray and a thin layer of corrosion developing. I`ve sorted that one out OK and repaired the panel, which probably allowed water up there in the first place.

Further inspection revealed flaking paint on the tubular members to both rear wheels, again not advanced but I`m glad I spotted it.

Minor problems again to all jacking support lugs, and the beginnings of problems at the very underside of the rear side panels (looking down under the car from the pininfarina badges) where the actual body paint in a couple of areas is just starting to flake.

Are there any areas that you suggest I may have missed that are known trouble spots? I`m making it sound worse than it probably is, but I`m determined to keep the car in the best condition that I can!!

    Cheers,

    Geoff

    Geoff -

Check your rear subframe carefully. I've got some worms down there too -- but for right now, I'll consider it an "advanced vehicle weight reduction modification". The more it rusts, the faster it'll run.

Naw, I'm kidding. I do have some spots on the rear subframe, and I'll look into things more seriously this winter when I'm not itching to drive.
