Anyone know anything about this situation

    Ferrari 348 TS | eBay

I smell something about the major that the "previous owner told" him he had done.

    Nothing to "smell".

The car is due for a major, regardless of what the previous owner told him. Asking price reflects that.

You seem to have a habit of starting threads with the intention of controversy...do you thrive off the drama?

That is a total deal of a price, under priced in my opinion. It should have been priced at $42k w/o the major, and $48k-$49k with the major completed. Especially since it only has 35,000 miles on the odometer.

Unless the seller is desperate, the price needs to come up.

Why is it always the front wheels that are on backwards and never the rear wheels?

Car looks clean, and fair priced for needing a major. Wish I could buy it!

My guess would be that its the front wheels that usually hit the curb and get out of alignment causing uneven wear, in turn causing owners to rotate the tires and rims.

When a buyer backs out it's not always the buyer's fault ... seller does not respond to emails requesting status of service records ... just had emissions done and perhaps it was better than the Mercedes but that says nothing, the Mercedes could be crappy even it it's only 3 years old .. (and where I live in TX they don't require an emissions test ..)

So again, I am not asking for opinions regarding my character or personality or my posts, I am asking if anyone has any intel on this situation...

perhaps it would be better to ask the question under "Questions and answers about this item" rather than send a private email.

I just posted one, so we will see if the seller responds.

In the thread I linked to above, it appears that anout 7 years ago it was offered by a dealer and needed a major at that time. As long as current seller has reciepts, that story adds up. If no way to prove the major was perfomed in 2007.... eek!

If you buy it, please sort out the tailpipes not being at the same elevation and both being much too low relative to the coachwork (another example of someone/some shop wrongly just replacing the silencer and not loosening/repositioning the rest of the exhaust system as they should).

If my memory serves me correct he told me that the prior owner before him was an owner of Service King collision repair, and they did the service.

I was just thinking about that today.

The official "3 years" is WAAAAAAAAY over kill in my opinion. I can't imagine pulling the engine via double floor jacks every three years, heck even with a lift I still think the official time frame is ridiculous. I pushed mine to the literal limit, all the way until bearing and pump failure. Which is also WAAAAAAAAY over kill. But now I KNOW for a fact how far I can push it. Will I push it that far again? Doubt it, but then again.................. never say never. :p

Unbelievably, sale fell thru again so car is offered for 3rd time ... the vehicle history shows it did indeed pass emissions at 34911 miles but that was in Oct 2009, registration last renewed Oct 2010 ... currently has 35000 miles ... so it looks like it has been standing for at least 3 years. Texas requires an inspection annually I believe.

Ok, this is the most bizarre dealing I have had.

I was the one that offered the $31k which was accepted prior to the auction closing.

He has re-listed it on Ebay even though we still have a pending transaction.

I was traveling for the next 2-3 days after I put in the offer and the listing requested a deposit within 24 hours, then payment within 7 days.

I did miss the 24 hour deposit, however I did try to respond to the seller on day 3 (within the 7 day time frame), who proceeded to email me a string of threats and demanding payment. However the seller would never provide a way to pay him, nor an address, nor any type of information on the car. I asked him for an address, and he just responded with more threats.

If you notice there are no questions asked or answered about the car, that is false, I asked for service records but the seller would not respond. When asked again about the car, he responded with a lie saying "Every info request that has been received has been answered" - but wouldn't answer any questions! Other than threats, the seller would never respond to any request about the car or and address for the car, or any way to pay him in person.

My last email to him, which was never responded to:

"You left messages on Friday, representing that you were a representative from Ebay, the phone number you left was xxx-xxx-xxxx, which is your company's phone number, that was the only contact I had for you and called this morning.

You have never answered any question, but continually threaten in every email.

Both myself and others have posted questions on Ebay, which you have ignored. Quoting from online forums "seller does not respond to emails requesting status of service records"

You have not provided any way to pay you, nor would you provide an address when asked. I offered a time, date and place to meet that was within the Ebay guidelines and your offer. Not my fault you didn't indicate where the payment was to be made.

I have been contacted both in Ebay (which I am sure Ebay can check) and on car forums regarding your vehicle, which most believe was previously owned by Service King collision repair.

If you want to sell the car, drop the attitude and stop the threats.

    Your choice."

Really weird. I can only guess he got a higher offer after he accepted mine. He is an experienced Ebayer, and sells products under another Ebay name. However, being that this is a personal item, I can understand creating a different "persona".

Proceed with caution on this vehicle.

I don't think so, I think the seller just has a really bad attitude.

My guess is that before anyone bids on the car, you better get a PPI, which based on my experience I doubt the seller would allow.

I was willing to take the risk on maintenance, but after my experience with this seller I wouldn't do that again.

Well I note this time around there is a vehicle history report and from that I conclude the car has been sitting w expired registration for 3 years ... last smog check/registration was 4 years ago and since then it's done about 150 miles ... and these early 348s have a tendency to chew up gearboxes ... so my conclusion is there is something wrong with the car (in addition to it requiring a major service). May be as simple as won't pass smog, or may be more complicated than that.
