Hi guys, I have been an FChat member for a long time and usually hang out in the 328 and Vintage section, but i have a 348 question. Did the 348 ever come from the factory with fender shields as an option? If so where they on one or both sides? If so where they recessed into the fenders? Thanks, Dan
The 348 Competitzone came with SF shields. Both sides of the car. I do not think that they were recessed into the front gaurds though.
348s did not come from the factory with shields... nor were they an option. Shields were traditionally reserved for Ferrari race cars and special edition cars (288, F40, etc.) until they figured they could soak customers for an extra $2K to put a horsey on the side of the car..... then they became an option.... from the 355 and on.
I consider that part of the 'special series' of cars that had shields. But it also had shields as a way to pay homage as a 'competitione' car.
Not to question all mighty Pap but I have seen pics of 348 with recessed fenders to fit shields I do believe it was an option you could order from Ferrari Angelis had someone on his site that did a paint restoration with the recessed fender with pics I'm too lazy to go find them...
Cold beers tonite mate. About to watch the State Of Origin. Rugby League. Queensland vs NSW!! Hope you have a lovely day today my friend.
Thanks Oz. There is also the fashion designer that liked the shields on the F40 and had the factory put them on her car. Was that a 348 or 355?
If I remember correctly we saw some pictures of the gorgeous blue 348 totally stripped before one of the three paintjobs. Didn´t we see a photo with the "dents" for the shields on one of the photos???? Check with Andrew he ought to know. //B//
