Could anyone please tell me when (what model year) the seat design on the 348 was changed to the insert-type? Thanks

I see you’re watching the 348 auction on BaT.
Mostly, I would say late 1991 production models (92MY typically), but the car listed on BaT right now has the later seats and it’s a May 91 production date. I’ve seen other May 1991 production date cars and they have the one piece seat bottoms.

Mine is July 91. One piece. I thought sometime in 92 was the change point.

The insert design is so much better when it comes to the leather stressing.

and it wouldn’t surprise me if it was based on color. They probably ran out of tan first.

Pangea, what color is your interior?

The interior in that 348 on bat looks to be in really good shape is it possible that it was redone and the seats were done in the later production style?

I don’t think they could be redone like that. They would have to be of that style to begin with. Maybe they were retrofitted or this is one of the earliest production cars with them.

My 1990 348 TS (now owned by Robuk on here), had the separate square seat cushions, and I don't recall there being anything in the cars service/repair history about the seats being replaced at any time: https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/threads/hello-my-new-348ts.582462/

(They had been re-connolised before I bought her, but that was all I could find that had been done to the seats)

Ok, and if that’s factory then that’s really odd because your old car also had the leather covered lockable center console box which only the early cars had. I bet your old car wasn’t
even in the 9xxxx serial number range? Or if it was it was very early.

There is no mention of separate seat cushions in the early parts manual. Circa 90-91. Base looks to be listed as one part.
