Can anyone tell me how to tighten the shoulderbelts that work with the passive restaint system . Mine will not retract anymore and I have pulled all the trim panels out to recover them so I figured while I am in there maybe I can get them working again. Also if anyone has changed their seatbelts over to a harness and can post some pictures of the mounting points they used

I would complain to Ferrari about them and while you are at it mention you work for US Customs. Ferrari has repaired or replaced many of those on 348 for free because they would like for them not to become a big enough issue to become a target for recall. They were in fact almost as problematic as the ones in the TR. If I were you I would talk to the nearest dealer and if they don't seem like they will be an advocate for you wright straight to Ferrari North America. The fact that you are with a Federal Gov agency that they deal with may make them more consumer friendly.

sparta49, are you asking how to modify the system for manual operation or install a true race harness? I have altered mine to operate manually. My shoulder retractors are a bit lazy but not too bad.
Rifledriver, I thought there was a recall. My entire system was replaced at Ferrari's expense by the original owner.

There was a recall on the seatbelt mechanisms that travel along the tracks; there was not a recall for the failure of the shoulder belts to retract back into the car instead of just dangling.

My shoulder belts dangle and it looks kind of absurd.

You are correct, there already was. I don't have it in front of me so I don't remember if it was complete or model wide like the TR recall. I also don't know how they will handle it in a dealer if it shows in the system as having been completed on that car. They may want to charge him as a repair and I think he can get FNA to cover it.

I have spoke to Ferrari of houston and they stated that they may be able to get them repaired by Ferrari. the problem is they are in Houston and I am in New Orleans and don't want to go through the hassle of bringing the car there for a maybe.

Right now neither side is operable and I have been using the seat mounted hook, which isn't a problem but the belts will not retract when they aren't in use . I would like to get them to retact if not then I would like to install a harness

I want to hear from someone that got Ferrari to make a free repair on a 14 year old car.

How about all the 88.5 to 91 TR passive restraints or the 348 passive restraints? Same issue and they have already been recalled so they admitted guilt for a nonfunctioning federally required safety device. You mean those free repairs?
