I have a 91 348 and have imported it into canada and we had to wire for daytime running lights. We had the fog lights working at first and everything was fine with that. The problem I have is when the headlights are on I can not shut the car off. So the mechanic has removed the wireing for the fog lights thinking there was an odd circuit but nothing has changed for shutdown and the front park lights are now on. Is this normal or do I have a ghost in the ignition?

Do your basic checks to verify any high level wiring problems with the daytime running light change:

#1: turn off the battery kill switch. Did your lights turn off or are they still on? Is your engine still running?

Turn the battery kill switch back on. Start engine again.

#2: begin pulling out fuses one by one (passenger footwell and driver side of front hood under carpet). Note which fuse causes your lights to turn off, motor to turn off, etc. Don't pull your ECU or fuel pump fuses for this test, as you'll get a false positive.

The information from those two tests should help narrow down your problem to one area/circuit.

I think on your daylight conversion you did something wrong. You've maybe supply the Drivinglight Circuit with Battery Voltage. And still let the old circuit alive wich uses Ignition Voltage. So if you turn on the driving lights you put 12V from Battery to Ignition line 15&30 connected. So you have a bridge from Battery to Ignition and it won't had a effect if you turn the key to the off position because your relais or whatever on your drivinglight still closes the circuit till you switch it off.

Day time running lights are Federal and as far as I know you do not need them when your car is 15years or older, I didn't and mine is a 94.

348's have Daytime Running Lights OEM. Just twist the column light shift to the first bulb setting. From then on your driving lights come on when you start your car, and turn off when you remove the ignition key (or turn the car off, etc.).

Thanks guys. I'll reverse the wiring that was done and use the "park" light as daytime running lights. It seems like there are too many things crossing over trying to hard wire running lights.
