Ok, bottom out front spoiler yesterday. Not hard, but pretty good scrape.

Anyone have any experience with after market skid plates? Do they help protect the spoiler?

    Any pictures?

    Thanks,
    Richard

Daniel at Ricambi says most are pretty useless. I think he sells some kind of skid plates. Send him a pm to see what eh says.

He has them in both aluminum and polyurethane. They offer a bit of protection and might cover the scrape. The aluminum ones look sharp. I've seen one owner put skid plates on his skid plates to protect the finish!

I made a splitter using 3/16" aluminum plate with 1/2" aluminum angle bent to form with the leading edge of the front bumper. Attached it with 3/16" screws through the front bumper, backed with fender washers. Under $100. Good skid plate, looks good, more downforce, covers dings at bottom of spoiler.

I just had the Ricambi America Aluminum skid plates installed on my 348 after having the spoiler repaired I scraped backing out the driveway at the repair shop and the skid plates did their job. :)

    Plugzit,

Nice job. I don't think I am that handy with aluminium.

I ordered a set form Ricambi for $180. They are made by Hill Eng. I have bought stuff from him before. Top quality.

Oh yea...the search button worked tonight...MAN did I scrape the cr-p out of my nose today. That will be $180 well spent.

Thanks for the thread and solution post Brother Doctor.

Daniel Pass from Ricambi pointed me towards this pic for a look at what they should look like. These are the polyurethane ones...same cost as aluminum. Daniel replied within an hour or so of my email going out to Ricambi...and this is a Sunday night. Yea...I'll be doing business there.
