My 94 spiders speedo just started working on and off. Sometimes when I start the car it works immediatly, then some times it will start working when I get up to 50/60 mph+, and other times it will not do anything. I have mid 36K miles, have stabilant-21 the connections at both where the sensor attachs to the transmission and also the huge plug on the back of the instrument cluster. I hate to spend $220 for a new pulse generator/speedo sensor if there may be another option to try first. Plus it looks like a bear to get to if I need to remove it. Any ideas will be appreciated.

I just did a R&R of mine and it takes less then 10 minutes to pull the entire dash and remove the Speedo. Mine was flaky too and I sent it to Palto Alto Speedometer. They did a two day turnaround for about $200.

Oil fouls the sensor connection at the gearbox. Rocks hit the connection and fouls it too. So does corrosion and time. Lift the rear of car look lower left of gearbox see speedo connection. Disconect clean pinch the connecoter for a tight fit and re connect. Now try it.

I had the same problem, but it was the sensor itself. Not only the connections.

It is a cheap piece and easy to change. Costs 100 USD or so.

    Good luck!

Same here on my old Spider. Just replace the worn part.
